Overview
The brief
Hall publishes four photobooks a year, each by a different artist. Every title had been designed from scratch, so the list never looked like a list. They asked for a system that could hold very different work without flattening it.
What we made
We set one grid, one typeface and one rule for text: it never touches a photograph. Covers carry a single image and the artist’s name, nothing else. The first three books in the series sold out their print runs, and the format is now used for every new title.
